NDC works to empower Palestinian NGOs to become more sustainable and to contribute to the social
and economic development of the community through supporting and developing the financial, human
and institutional capacities of NGOs and their respective networks. The intended result of this approach
is a coordinated Palestinian NGO sector that is more transparent, accountable and responsive to
citizens’ needs. NDC aims to achieve its mandated goal of NGOs contributing to the development of
Palestinian society and meeting its needs.

Our grant-making facility is our main mechanism providing financial support to NGOs across various
sectors, as well as technical assistance, capacity development and resources. NDC provides various
grants that are responsive to the needs of different NGOs, core funding, grants for community
initiatives, and emergency grants to respond to urgent needs. Our different granting schemes cater to
NGOs with various capacities and comparative advantages. The NGO Development Center is the leading
grant mechanism to Palestinian NGOs. Our grants programme is financially supported either fully by one
donor, or through multiple donors.

Since 2007, NDC has mobilized and disbursed more than USD 136 million.

This project is an additional phase of the Support for East Jerusalem's Identity and Resilience (AJIR) programme, approved in 2020, with the same objectives: to improve access to education and services for the Palestinians of East Jerusalem, particularly the most vulnerable. Around twenty CSOs have been funded under AJIR (8 under the "infrastructure" pillar; 12 under the "access to services" pillar). The scale of the needs, the requests from NGOs providing essential services, the renewed political interest of the Consulate General of France, the quality of the partnership with the NGO Development Center and the new ambitions in terms of taking gender into account and the inclusion of very small structures, are all reasons why the AJIR programme has been so successful.
