On Thursday, May 14, 2009, the NGO Development Center (NDC) signed a financing agreement with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for the Rehabilitation of Agricultural Water Cisterns in the Gaza Strip. The total grant amount is US 900,000 and will be implemented over the period of 9 months.
The financing agreement was signed by Mr. Ghassan Kasabreh, NDC Director, and Mr. Mario Carera, The SDC Office Manager in Jerusalem. The objective of this grant is to revitalize the agricultural sector in Gaza through the rehabilitation of agricultural water cisterns.
It is expected to rehabilitate between 30-35 water cisterns which will eventually contribute to the revival of hundreds of acres of agricultural lands and increasing their productivity.
