NDC Signs a USD 900,000 Financing Agreement with the SDC
On Thursday, May 14, 2009, the NGO Development Center (NDC) signed a financing agreement with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for the Rehabilitation of Agricultural Water Cisterns in the Gaza Strip. The total grant amount is US 900,000 and will be implemented over the period of 9 months. The financing agreement was signed by Mr. Ghassan Kasabreh, NDC Director, and Mr. Mario Carera, The SDC Office Manager in Jerusalem. The objective of this grant is to revitalize the agricultural sector in Gaza through the rehabilitation of agricultural water cisterns.
NDC Signs a USD 950,000 Financing Agreement with the Welfare Association
The NGO Development Center (NDC) signed a financing agreement for a total amount of US 950,000 for the rehabilitation of agricultural lands in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip over a period of 18 months. This agreement is supported by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, managed by the Islamic Bank for Development and supervised by the Welfare Association. The signing ceremony was held at the Welfare Association office in Ramallah on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
NDC Holds its Annual General Assembly Meeting
NDC held its annual General Assembly meeting on Saturday May 9, 2009 in its office in Al Ram and via the video conference with its members in Gaza. During the meeting, NDC General Assembly discussed and endorsed NDC Financial and Administrative 2008 annual report, action plan and budget for the year 2009, and the following committees’ reports: Fundraising and Finance and Audit reports, as well as, approving the selection of the auditor.
NDC Signs GIAs with Seven NGOs Working in the Field of Human Rights and Good Governance (HR/GG)
The NGO Development Center (NDC) signed on Monday, May 4, 2009 grant implementation agreements (GIAs) with 7 NGOs working in the field of human rights and good governance (HR/GG) in the Palestinian Occupied Territory (oPt) for a total amount of USD 301,678. These GIAs complement other GIAs that were signed previously, making the total number of beneficiary NGOs from this program 36, in which 13 GIAs were signed to fund emergency intervention projects, and the rest for core funding.
Back NDC Holds a Two-day Rapid Needs Assessment Workshop for Palestinian NGOs in the Gaza Strip
On March 3 and 4, the NGO Development Center (NDC) held a two-day rapid needs assessment workshop for 47 Palestinian NGOs working in the sectors of Health and rehabilitation, Agriculture, Social Services and Education at the Roots Restaurant in Gaza City. It is important to note that this was the first needs assessment for and by local Palestinian NGOs since the Israeli offensive which began on December 27, 2008. The mechanism applied focused on sector working groups and included the following points of discussion: role of NGOs in service delivery, preparedness of NGOs in the current situation, capacity and capability of NGOs to absorb additional funding and to implement additional programs, the need of each sector by priority, immediate and intermediate interventions with an emphasis on quick start, and the possibilities of cooperation and coordination.
The NGO Development Center Holds an Event to Present and Disseminate the Resource Kit of the Palestinian NGOs Code of Conduct
On February 7, 2009, the NGO Development Center (NDC) held an event to present and disseminate the resource kit of the Palestinian NGOs Code of Conduct. The event targeted NGOs that were signatories to the Code, However, non-signatories took part, whereby they signed the Code at the event and received the Kit. Over 180 NGOs representing various sectors and governorates in the West Bank attended the event.
NDC Signs Grant Implementation Agreements with 25 NGOs working in the field of Human Right and Good Governance for a total of USD 5,280,000
On Thursday, December 18, 2008, NDC signed Grant Implementation Agreements (GIAs) with 25 NGOs working in the field of Human Rights and Good Governance in the Palestinian Occupied Territories (oPt) for a total amount of 5,280,000. The signing ceremony took place at NDC office in Al Ram and Gaza office as well. The event included the attendance of Mr. Zahi Khouri, NDC Chairman, Mr. Ghassan Kasabreh, NDC Director, who singed the GIAs with the beneficiary NGOs, and Mr. Mario Carera, SDC Director.
